How long will I wait for an appointment?
We aim to offer an appointment within two weeks of your pre-assessment forms being completed. Because we screen before you pay, we only take on patients we can help.
Do I need a GP referral?
No. You can refer yourself and book directly.
What happens during the free screening?
You complete a short clinically validated questionnaire online. If our service isn’t the right fit, we’ll tell you upfront, before you spend anything.
What does my case manager do?
Every patient is assigned a case manager as a single point of contact. They help gather records, carry out an initial intake and coordinate appointments.
Are my consultations confidential?
Yes. All consultations are private, and your records are handled in line with GDPR and NHS information governance standards.
Do you offer NHS Right to Choose?
Not currently. Psyara is a fully private service.
Can I get a refund?
Refunds and cancellations are handled in line with our terms of service.
Should I see a psychiatrist or a psychologist?
Both can assess mental health conditions. A psychiatrist is a medical doctor who specialises in mental health. This means we can:
- consider whether a physical health issue could be contributing to your symptoms
- help tell apart conditions that can look similar, such as ADHD, anxiety and low mood
- discuss all treatment options with you, including talking therapy, lifestyle support and, where clinically appropriate, medication
- write to your GP to keep your care joined up
If you need detailed cognitive testing or an autism assessment, a psychologist may be better placed to help, and we’ll let you know.
What does the assessment cost?
£395, including your consultation, written diagnostic report and treatment plan. There is no separate report fee.
How long does the assessment take?
The consultation lasts around 60 minutes. You’ll complete questionnaires beforehand, which your psychiatrist reviews before you meet.
What conditions do you assess?
Depression, anxiety, OCD, PTSD, bipolar disorder, stress and burnout, and sleep problems where a mental health cause is suspected.
Will I be prescribed medication?
Only if clinically appropriate. Your psychiatrist will discuss options that may include medication, talking therapy, or both. Medication is never guaranteed.
Will you write to my GP?
Yes, with your consent. Where ongoing medication is recommended, we request a shared care agreement so your GP can consider taking over prescribing.
Do you offer follow-up appointments?
Yes. A follow-up appointment with your psychiatrist costs £180. Most patients starting medication will need at least one.
What does an ADHD assessment cost?
£950, all-inclusive. This covers the clinical consultation, formal written diagnostic report and post-assessment recommendations.
How long does the ADHD assessment take?
Between 90 and 120 minutes in total, sometimes split across more than one appointment.
Will my GP accept a diagnosis from Psyara?
We follow NICE guidance and write reports to meet shared care agreement requirements. Each GP practice makes its own decision.
What is titration and do I need it?
Titration is the process of finding the right medication and dose with regular monitoring. Our 12-week programme costs £750.
What if there’s a medication shortage?
There are intermittent supply issues with some ADHD medicines across the UK. We work with our partner pharmacy to source prescriptions as quickly as possible.
